OK, here’s an update on whats been happening, and not all of it is as sweet as normal.

On the eve of the major shoot that would complete a large percentage of the filming, Damian came up to Sherwin and I, and pretty much told us we wern’t allowed to film within the school, that it would only be interesting to a small percentage of audiences, and that it is not worthy to be on the showreel. OK, this is fair enough, however:

A) Sherwin and I presented Damian the script, concept work, premise, storyboards etc. very early, literally a week after he told us the assignment due to Sherwin and I working on it over the holidays. We presented a nice thick black folder of all the work so we could begin filming ASAP. We didn’t dare buy anything until we got the green light in case Damian did reject it. However, we recieved the green light, so we immedinatly went into prop purchasing and extras/puppeteer seeking.

B) During our filming within the institute, we were getting small “audiences” curious to what we were up to. It was often from these audiecnes people asked if they could be involved in our production. Some viewed the concept as a joke while others considered it creative. Damian himself had seen us filming a few times.

C) During the pitch, Damian offered no refusal to the project, but insisted we deepen the plot and character development. By then we had two script re-writes. Damian’s suggestions required us to rewrite the scipt for the third time, and matching storyboards.

D) With more positive feedback from this rewritten script, and approx. 20 people volunteering to be extras and puppeteers, we were all set to film. This is about 2-3 months into production, and we’re about to film. It was on the eve of the day we had been waiting for when Damian had chosen to say “You can’t do this”.

At the moment, working on a new concept if it is offical “Pads” gets cancelled.

Recieved the final season of ‘Red vs Blue’ for my “research” into machinima. And after watching it I have concluded that Red vs BLue is indeed a great series and a inspiration to prove how a small idea that was supposed to last 5-10 episodes indeed lasted five years, and now producing spin-offs.

Did a test pixalated movie, using the DVD cabinet. WHat I ended up doing, with 270 photos, was a remote controll tugging out a DVD, which itself propels backward and eventually falls off. For my main pixalation film, I’m thinking of having someone ride a exercise bike like a real one.
